The Royal Brewery Krušovice celebrates success at this year's tasting competition held as part of the Žatec Dočesná, one of the most prestigious beer and hop festivals in the Czech Republic. Krušovice beers received four awards – two first places, one second, and one third.
Brewery director Karel Honegr praised the importance of the competition and expressed his delight with the success:
“We are happy that our beers were appreciated by the tasters especially at Dočesná, which has a long-standing tradition and a high level of quality. We believe that regular beer drinkers enjoy them just as much.”
Krušovice Pšeničné (Wheat Beer) won third place in the wheat beer category. After a few years off the market, it returned this year due to customer demand. It is a light top-fermented beer with fruity notes.
The silver medal in the most competitive category – premium pale lager – went to BOHÉM, brewed from high-quality Žatec hops. This beer is very popular, supported by an advertising campaign featuring Bolek and Vladimír Polívka, and is associated with various cultural events including festivals and TV shows.
The gold medal in the 11° lager category was awarded to a newcomer this year – Krušovice 11, which made its debut at this competition.
The second first place went to Krušovice Hořké Nealko in the non-alcoholic beer category. This beer stands out with its full flavor, higher bitterness (28 IBU), and has long been successful in other competitions such as Pivex.
The tasting competition took place at the Hop Research Institute in Žatec. A total of 26 breweries entered 165 samples. More than 200 tasters evaluated the beers during the two-day event.
